- Perform a wide range of laboratory tests in the microbiology department, including but not limited to bacterial cultures, identification of microorganisms, and susceptibility testing.
- Follow established protocols and procedures to ensure accurate and timely completion of laboratory tests.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that may arise during testing.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure proper collection and handling of specimens.
- Accurately record and report test results to healthcare providers in a timely manner.
- Participate in the validation and implementation of new laboratory tests and equipment.
- Conduct quality control procedures and maintain documentation to ensure accuracy and precision of test results.
- Stay current with developments in the field of microbiology and incorporate new techniques and technologies into laboratory processes.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a safe working environment.
- Train and mentor new laboratory technicians and students as needed.
- Maintain inventory and order supplies as needed to ensure uninterrupted laboratory operations.
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other healthcare professionals.
- Continuously monitor and improve laboratory processes to increase efficiency and quality of results.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adheres to all HIPAA regulations.
Bachelor's Degree In Medical Laboratory Science Or Related Field.
Certification As A Medical Laboratory Technician (Mlt) By Ascp Or Equivalent.
Minimum Of 2 Years Experience Working In A Microbiology Laboratory.
Knowledge Of Laboratory Safety Procedures And Quality Control Measures.
Strong Attention To Detail And Ability To Accurately Perform And Interpret Laboratory Tests.
