1. Provide high-quality interpretation services in American Sign Language for patients, healthcare providers, and staff who are deaf or hard of hearing.
2. Facilitate effective communication between patients and healthcare providers during medical appointments, procedures, and consultations.
3. Act as a liaison between patients and healthcare providers to ensure that all parties understand and are understood.
4. Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA regulations while interpreting.
5. Build and maintain relationships with patients, healthcare providers, and staff to ensure a positive and welcoming environment for all.
6. Stay up-to-date on medical terminology and procedures to accurately interpret complex information.
7. Advocate for the needs of patients who are deaf or hard of hearing to ensure they receive the best possible healthcare.
8. Educate healthcare providers and staff on deaf culture and the use of interpreters to promote cultural sensitivity and understanding.
9. Collaborate with other interpreters and healthcare staff to improve interpreting services and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
10. Keep accurate records of interpreted sessions and maintain confidentiality of all information.
