- Utilize knowledge of laboratory procedures and techniques to perform histology tests and procedures.
- Ensure proper labeling and handling of all specimens to maintain accuracy and prevent contamination.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure accurate and efficient results.
- Follow established protocols and safety measures to maintain a safe working environment.
- Record and maintain accurate laboratory records and results.
- Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to ensure seamless patient care.
- Communicate effectively with pathologists and other healthcare professionals to discuss results and troubleshoot any issues.
- Maintain inventory of supplies and reorder as needed to ensure uninterrupted workflow.
- Keep up-to-date with new techniques and procedures in the field of histology.

- Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities to maintain the highest level of accuracy and precision.
- Train and mentor new histotechnicians and laboratory assistants.

Associate's Degree In Histotechnology Or Biomedical Science: This Is The Minimum Educational Requirement For A Histotechnician Position At Allina Health System. The Candidate Must Have Completed A Program In Histotechnology Or A Related Field From An Accredited Institution.
Certification As A Histotechnician (Ht) Or Histotechnologist (Htl): Allina Health System Prefers Candidates Who Are Certified By The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp) As A Histotechnician Or Histotechnologist. This Certification Demonstrates A High Level Of Knowledge And Expertise In The Field.
Experience In Histology Laboratory Procedures: The Ideal Candidate Should Have At Least 1-2 Years Of Experience Working In A Histology Laboratory, Performing Tissue Processing, Embedding, And Staining Procedures. Familiarity With Equipment, Such As Microtomes And Cryostats, Is Also Preferred.
Knowledge Of Laboratory Safety And Quality Assurance: Allina Health System Values Safety And Quality Control In Their Laboratory Operations. Therefore, Candidates Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of Laboratory Safety Protocols And Quality Assurance Measures In The Histology Laboratory.
