- Assist customers with selecting the right plants, tools, and materials for their specific gardening needs.
- Provide expert knowledge and advice on gardening techniques, plant care, and pest control.
- Maintain a clean and organized garden center, ensuring that all products are properly stocked and displayed.
- Help customers load and transport their purchases to their vehicles.
- Process transactions accurately and efficiently using the store's point-of-sale system.
- Actively seek out opportunities to upsell and promote additional products and services.
- Keep up-to-date with current gardening trends and products to better assist customers.
- Create and maintain positive relationships with customers, providing exceptional customer service at all times.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure the smooth operation of the garden center.
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe and enjoyable shopping experience for customers.
- Assist with receiving and restocking shipments of new products.
- Attend training sessions and meetings to stay informed about new products and company policies.
- Assist with merchandising and maintaining visual standards in the garden center.
- Occasionally assist with outdoor landscaping and maintenance tasks as needed.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures, including but not limited to attendance, punctuality, and dress code.
Knowledge Of Gardening And Plant Care: This Includes Understanding Different Types Of Plants, Their Specific Needs, And How To Properly Care For Them.
Customer Service Skills: As A Garden Center Employee, You Will Be Interacting With Customers On A Daily Basis. Therefore, Strong Communication And Customer Service Skills Are Essential.
Physical Ability: This Job May Require Lifting Heavy Objects, Such As Bags Of Soil Or Large Plants. Candidates Should Be Physically Fit And Able To Perform Tasks Such As Bending, Kneeling, And Standing For Extended Periods Of Time.
Sales Experience: Garden Center Employees Will Be Responsible For Selling Products And Providing Recommendations To Customers. Previous Sales Experience Or Knowledge Of Retail Sales Techniques Is Beneficial.
Availability And Flexibility: Garden Centers Are Busiest During The Spring And Summer Months, So Candidates Should Be Available To Work Weekends And Holidays During This Time. Flexibility To Work Varying Shifts And Handle Multiple Tasks At Once Is Also Important.
