- Develop novel peptide-based therapeutics to address unmet medical needs and improve patient outcomes.
- Conduct research and experiments to identify and validate new peptide drug targets.
- Design and synthesize complex peptides using state-of-the-art techniques and technologies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the discovery and development of peptides for various disease areas.
- Utilize analytical techniques to characterize and optimize peptide structures for potency, selectivity, and stability.
- Design and execute in vitro and in vivo studies to evaluate the efficacy and safety of lead peptides.
- Interpret and analyze data to draw meaningful conclusions and make recommendations for further research.
- Contribute to the preparation and review of scientific publications, patents, and regulatory submissions.
- Stay current with scientific literature and emerging technologies in the field of peptide chemistry.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior team members and contribute to their professional development.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety and regulatory guidelines and procedures.
- Present research findings and represent the company at scientific conferences and meetings.
- Collaborate with external partners and vendors to support peptide discovery and development efforts.

Phd In Chemistry Or Related Field: A Peptide Chemist At Abbvie Should Have A Strong Foundation In Chemistry, Particularly In Peptide Synthesis, Purification, And Characterization. A Phd In Chemistry Or A Related Field Is Typically Required For This Position.
Extensive Experience In Peptide Synthesis: The Ideal Candidate Should Have At Least 5-7 Years Of Experience In Peptide Synthesis, With A Proven Track Record Of Successfully Designing And Synthesizing Novel Peptides. Familiarity With Various Peptide Coupling And Purification Techniques Is Also Important.
Knowledge Of Drug Discovery Process: Abbvie Is A Pharmaceutical Company, So Familiarity With The Drug Discovery Process Is Essential For A Peptide Chemist. This Includes A Deep Understanding Of Drug Target Identification, Lead Optimization, And Preclinical Development.
Strong Analytical Skills: As A Principal Research Scientist, The Candidate Is Expected To Lead And Mentor A Team Of Scientists. Therefore, Strong Analytical Skills Are A Must, Including The Ability To Critically Analyze Data, Troubleshoot Experiments, And Propose Innovative Solutions To Complex Problems.
