Job Description

As a Government Affairs Manager, you will have the opportunity to shape and drive our government affairs strategy for AbbVie, a leading biopharmaceutical company dedicated to improving patients' lives.

  1. Develop and implement a comprehensive government affairs strategy for AbbVie, focused on advocating for policies that support patient access to innovative treatments.
  2. Monitor and analyze government policies and regulations related to the healthcare industry, and proactively identify potential opportunities and challenges.
  3. Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, industry associations, and patient advocacy groups.
  4. Represent AbbVie in meetings, hearings, and other forums with government officials and policymakers.
  5. Collaborate with internal teams, including legal, regulatory, and communications, to ensure alignment and consistency in government affairs messaging and initiatives.
  6. Develop and maintain a database of relevant legislation and regulations, and provide regular updates and recommendations to senior management.
  7. Monitor and report on political and regulatory developments that may impact AbbVie's business and operations.
  8. Plan and execute advocacy campaigns and events to support AbbVie's government affairs objectives.
  9. Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  10. Represent AbbVie's interests in relevant industry associations and coalitions, and actively engage in shaping their agendas and priorities.
  11. Stay up-to-date on industry trends, best practices, and emerging issues related to government affairs.
  12. Manage budget and resources effectively to support government affairs initiatives and activities.
  13. Develop and maintain a strong understanding of AbbVie's business objectives and priorities, and ensure that government affairs efforts align with and support these goals.
  14. Provide guidance and support to other team members, and foster a collaborative and high-performing culture within the government affairs team.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Political Science, Public Policy, Or A Related Field.

  • At Least 5 Years Of Experience Working In Government Relations Or Public Affairs, Preferably In The Pharmaceutical Or Healthcare Industry.

  • Demonstrated Knowledge Of Government And Legislative Processes At The Local, State, And Federal Levels.

  • Proven Track Record Of Successful Advocacy And Relationship-Building With Government Officials, Legislators, And Regulatory Agencies.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Communicate Complex Policy Issues To A Variety Of Stakeholders.
