Conduct patent prosecution activities for AbbVie's innovative treatments, ensuring efficient and timely filing, prosecution, and maintenance of patents.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including researchers, scientists, and legal teams, to identify and protect novel discoveries and inventions.
Draft and prosecute patent applications in various jurisdictions, including the USPTO and international patent offices.
Conduct patentability, validity, and freedom-to-operate analyses to support business and legal strategies.
Monitor and assess third-party patents and patent applications to identify potential risks and opportunities.
Communicate complex patent prosecution matters to non-legal stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies related to patents and intellectual property.
Stay updated on industry trends, changes in patent laws, and emerging technologies to provide strategic advice and recommendations.
Manage outside counsel and patent agents to optimize patent prosecution activities and budgets.
Foster a culture of innovation and intellectual property awareness within the organization through training and education initiatives.

Job Qualifications

Juris Doctor (Jd) Degree From An Accredited Law School
Admission To Practice Before The United States Patent And Trademark Office (Uspto)
3+ Years Of Experience In Patent Prosecution, Preferably In The Pharmaceutical Or Biotechnology Industry
Strong Understanding Of Patent Laws And Regulations, Including Us And International Patent Laws
Excellent Written And Oral Communication Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Communicate Complex Technical And Legal Concepts To Both Legal And Non-Legal Audiences.
