Alaska Division of Agriculture

Careers and Openings at Alaska Division of Agriculture

The mission of the Alaska Division of Agriculture is to promote and encourage the development of an agricultural industry in Alaska that is stable and profitable. Alaska has a long history of agriculture, which is evident on the state seal. The seal was originally designed in 1910, which portrays a farmer, his horse, and three shocks of wheat. However, Alaska weather is not always conducive to farming, but does produce some of the most pristine food products since they are free of pests and can have constant sunlight. Since Alaska agriculture is not as well known, Alaska stamps its products with a distinctive Alaska Grown label.
