  1. Develop and implement biosafety policies and procedures in accordance with federal, state, and university regulations.
  2. Conduct risk assessments and provide guidance to researchers on proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
  3. Collaborate with various departments, including environmental health and safety, to ensure compliance with biosafety regulations.
  4. Train and educate researchers on biosafety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment.
  5. Monitor and inspect laboratories and research facilities to ensure compliance with biosafety standards.
  6. Investigate and report any biosafety incidents or potential hazards, and make recommendations for corrective actions.
  7. Stay informed on updates and changes to biosafety regulations and communicate them to relevant parties.
  8. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to biosafety inspections, incidents, and training.
  9. Serve as a liaison between the university and external regulatory agencies regarding biosafety matters.
  10. Participate in emergency response planning and drills to ensure preparedness for potential biosafety incidents.
  11. Collaborate with the Biosafety Officer and other team members to continuously improve and enhance biosafety programs.
  12. Represent the university at conferences and meetings related to biosafety.
  13. Foster a culture of safety and compliance within the scientific community at the university.
  14. Assist with other duties and projects as assigned by the Biosafety Officer.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In A Relevant Field Such As Microbiology, Environmental Health, Or Occupational Health And Safety.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In A Biosafety-Related Role, Preferably In A Research Or Academic Setting.

  • Knowledge Of Federal, State, And Local Regulations And Guidelines Related To Biosafety, Including Those From The Cdc, Nih, And Osha.

  • Experience With Risk Assessment And Risk Management Techniques For Biological Hazards.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Collaborate With Diverse Groups Of Individuals And Effectively Train And Educate Others On Biosafety Protocols.
