Job Description

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you as an Addictions Counselor 1 at the State of New York. As an integral part of our team, you will provide counseling and support to individuals struggling with addiction, helping them on their journey towards recovery.   1. Provide individual and group counseling sessions for individuals struggling with addiction, utilizing evidence-based techniques and treatment modalities.
  2. Conduct thorough assessments to determine each client's unique needs and develop personalized treatment plans.
  3. Monitor and track client progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
  4. Collaborate with other members of the treatment team to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care for clients.
  5. Educate clients and their families about addiction, the recovery process, and available resources.
  6. Maintain accurate and confidential client records and documentation.
  7. Adhere to ethical and professional standards in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  8. Continuously seek professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in addiction and mental health treatment.
  9. Serve as an advocate for clients, promoting their rights and well-being.
  10. Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and other professionals involved in the treatment process.
  11. Stay current with changes and advancements in the field of addiction and mental health treatment.
  12. Attend team meetings and participate in case consultations.
  13. Display empathy, compassion, and understanding towards clients and their families.
  14. Provide crisis intervention and support as needed.
  15. Collaborate with community resources and referral sources to ensure continuity of care for clients.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Or A Related Field.

  • Certification As A Certified Alcohol And Drug Counselor (Cadc) By The New York State Office Of Alcoholism And Substance Abuse Services (Oasas).

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working In The Field Of Addiction Counseling.

  • Knowledge Of Evidence-Based Treatment Modalities For Substance Abuse And Co-Occurring Disorders.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Effectively With Diverse Populations And Collaborate With Other Professionals In A Team Setting.
