Job Description

You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to assess clients' needs, develop and implement treatment plans, and evaluate their progress. Your role will be crucial in promoting health and wellness, enhancing quality of life, and fostering independence and community integration for our clients.To be successful in this position, you must have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Recreation Therapy or a related field, and be certified or eligible for certification as a Recreation Therapist. You should also have strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and in a team setting.   1. Develop and implement effective treatment plans for individuals with disabilities and illnesses using recreation and leisure activities.
  2. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to assess clients' needs and provide input on treatment plans.
  3. Utilize creative and evidence-based therapeutic interventions to help clients achieve physical, social, emotional, and cognitive goals.
  4. Evaluate clients' progress and make adjustments to treatment plans as needed.
  5. Promote health and wellness and improve quality of life for clients through recreation and leisure activities.
  6. Foster independence and community integration for clients through therapeutic interventions.
  7. Communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members to ensure coordinated care.
  8. Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of client progress and treatment plans.
  9. Stay current on best practices and advancements in the field of recreation therapy.
  10. Adhere to all ethical and legal standards in the provision of services.
  11. Provide education and support to clients and their families on the benefits of recreation therapy.
  12. Collaborate with community organizations and resources to enhance the recreation therapy program.
  13. Attend and participate in team meetings, trainings, and other professional development opportunities.
  14. Maintain a safe and clean environment for clients to participate in recreational activities.
  15. Adhere to all policies and procedures of the organization and follow state and federal regulations.
  16. Handle any crisis situations with professionalism and follow proper protocols.
  17. Act as an advocate for clients and their needs within the organization.
  18. Maintain confidentiality of all client information.
  19. Assist in the evaluation and selection of adaptive equipment for clients.
  20. Provide supervision and guidance to recreation therapy assistants and volunteers.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Recreation Therapy Or A Related Field, Such As Therapeutic Recreation Or Recreation And Leisure Studies.

  • Certification As A Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (Ctrs) From The National Council For Therapeutic Recreation Certification (Nctrc).

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In The Field Of Recreation Therapy, Preferably In A Healthcare Or Rehabilitation Setting.

  • Knowledge Of And Experience In Implementing Evidence-Based Recreation Therapy Interventions For Various Populations, Including Individuals With Physical, Cognitive, And Emotional Disabilities.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, Including The Ability To Collaborate With Interdisciplinary Teams And Develop Individualized Treatment Plans For Clients.
