Job Description

The State of Arizona is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Water Resources Specialist to join our team. As a Water Resources Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the sustainable use of water throughout our state. We are seeking a candidate with a strong understanding of water laws and regulations, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders.   1. Conduct research and analysis on water laws, regulations, and policies to ensure compliance and identify potential issues or areas for improvement.
  2. Develop and implement strategies for sustainable water resource management in accordance with state and federal laws.
  3. Collaborate with various stakeholders, including government agencies, community organizations, and industry representatives, to gather information and assess potential impacts on water resources.
  4. Monitor and assess the quantity and quality of water resources, including surface water and groundwater, and provide recommendations for conservation and protection measures.
  5. Prepare and present reports, data, and other information to internal and external stakeholders, including policymakers, community groups, and the general public.
  6. Stay updated on current and emerging issues related to water resources in Arizona and provide expert knowledge and guidance to inform decision making.
  7. Conduct site visits and inspections to assess the impact of water usage on the environment and make recommendations for mitigation or remediation measures.
  8. Participate in the development and implementation of water resource management plans and programs, including drought management and emergency response plans.
  9. Provide technical assistance and support to other departments, agencies, and organizations on water resource-related matters.
  10. Collaborate with other water resource specialists and professionals to share knowledge, best practices, and develop innovative solutions for water resource management.
  11. Develop and maintain relationships with local, state, and federal agencies, as well as stakeholders, to ensure effective communication and coordination of water resource management efforts.
  12. Represent the state of Arizona in meetings, conferences, and other events related to water resources and present information on behalf of the agency.
  13. Stay updated on new technologies, trends, and practices related to water resource management and make recommendations for their adoption and implementation.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Environmental Science, Hydrology, Water Resources Management, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 3 Years Of Experience In Water Resources Planning, Management, Or Regulatory Compliance.

  • Familiarity With State And Federal Water Laws, Regulations, And Policies.

  • Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills, With The Ability To Interpret And Apply Complex Data.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Collaborate And Coordinate With Various Stakeholders, Including Government Agencies, Private Companies, And Community Organizations.
