- Conduct patient assessments and create individualized care plans based on the patient's specific needs and medical history.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care for patients.
- Monitor patient progress and make necessary adjustments to care plans to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Educate patients and their families on perinatal care, including breastfeeding, newborn care, and postpartum care.
- Provide expert guidance and support to nursing staff in the perinatal unit.

Active Rn License: A Clinical Nurse Specialist In The Perinatal Unit At Providence St. Joseph Health Must Have An Active Rn License In The State Where The Facility Is Located. This Demonstrates That The Candidate Has Met The Necessary Educational And Competency Requirements To Practice As A Registered Nurse.
Master's Degree In Nursing: A Minimum Of A Master's Degree In Nursing With A Specialization In Perinatal Care Is Required For This Role. This Advanced Degree Provides The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Provide Specialized Care To Perinatal Patients.
Certification As A Clinical Nurse Specialist: The Candidate Must Also Be Certified As A Clinical Nurse Specialist In The Perinatal Specialty Through A Recognized Certifying Body Such As The National Association Of Clinical Nurse Specialists (Nacns). This Certification Ensures That The Candidate Has Met The National Standards For Clinical Competence In This Specialized Area Of Nursing.
Minimum Of 3-5 Years Of Clinical Experience: To Be Considered For This Role, Candidates Must Have A Minimum Of 3-5 Years Of Experience Working In A Clinical Setting, Preferably In A Perinatal Unit. This Experience Provides The Necessary Hands-On Experience And Knowledge To Effectively Manage Complex Patient Cases.
Strong Communication And Leadership Skills: As A Clinical Nurse Specialist In The Perinatal Unit, The Candidate Will Be Responsible For Providing Leadership, Education, And Consultation To Other Nurses And Healthcare Professionals. Therefore, Strong Communication And Leadership Skills Are Essential For This Role.
