  1. Provide academic and career guidance to students at Northern State University.
  2. Assist students in creating and implementing personalized academic plans to achieve their goals.
  3. Educate students on university policies, procedures, and resources.
  4. Monitor student progress and intervene when necessary to ensure academic success.
  5. Conduct regular meetings with students to discuss academic performance, goals, and any concerns.
  6. Collaborate with faculty and staff to support students' academic and personal development.
  7. Stay up-to-date on current trends and best practices in academic advising.
  8. Serve as a resource for students on various academic and career-related topics.
  9. Maintain accurate and confidential student records.
  10. Participate in orientation, recruitment, and retention initiatives for students.
  11. Assist in developing and implementing academic support programs and workshops.
  12. Communicate regularly with students via email, phone, and in-person meetings.
  13. Act as a liaison between students and other university departments.
  14. Provide referrals to campus resources for students as needed.
  15. Contribute to the overall mission and goals of Northern State University.

Job Qualifications
  • A Minimum Of A Master's Degree In A Relevant Field Such As Counseling, Education, Or Social Work.

  • At Least 3-5 Years Of Experience Working In A Higher Education Setting, Preferably In A Counseling Or Advising Role.

  • Knowledge Of And Experience With Advising Techniques And Strategies, Including Academic Planning, Career Exploration, And Student Success Initiatives.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Interact With Students, Faculty, And Staff From Diverse Backgrounds.

  • Familiarity With University Policies And Procedures, As Well As State And Federal Regulations Related To Higher Education.
