Job Description

Nationwide Mutual Insurance is seeking an experienced Compliance Officer to join our expanding team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that our company's operations and activities adhere to applicable laws and regulations. You must be organized and detail-oriented, with a strong sense of ethical and legal obligations. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about compliance and enjoys working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.Ideal candidates will have at least five years of experience in a compliance-related role, preferably in the insurance industry. A Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, legal studies, economics, or a related field is also preferred. You must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of staff and management, and possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills. The successful candidate will have the ability to think critically and make sound decisions.

Responsibilities:

  1. Monitor and assess compliance with applicable laws and regulations for all company operations and activities.
  2. Analyze and assess potential risks, ensuring that appropriate steps are taken to protect the company.
  3. Develop and implement policies and procedures designed to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
  4. Review contracts and other documents for compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  5. Educate staff and management on compliance issues and provide guidance on related matters.
  6. Investigate potential violations of laws and regulations and take appropriate corrective action.
  7. Maintain records of compliance activities and regularly report on activities and findings.
  8. Monitor changes in laws and regulations that may affect the company’s operations and activities.
  9. Collaborate with other departments to ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures.
  10. Represent the company in legal proceedings related to compliance.
