  1. Oversee and manage daily operations of the JHPD, including patrol, investigations, and community outreach programs.
  2. Direct and lead a team of police officers and civilian personnel, providing guidance and support to ensure a safe and productive work environment.
  3. Develop and implement departmental policies and procedures in line with local, state, and federal laws.
  4. Maintain a strong working relationship with university administration, faculty, staff, and students to promote a safe and welcoming campus environment.
  5. Conduct regular assessments to identify potential safety and security risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  6. Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies and emergency services to coordinate responses to incidents and emergencies.
  7. Provide training and professional development opportunities for JHPD personnel to ensure they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to carry out their duties effectively.
  8. Monitor and analyze crime trends and data to inform decision-making and resource allocation.
  9. Prepare and manage departmental budget, including allocating resources for equipment, training, and staffing needs.
  10. Serve as a role model for ethical and professional behavior, upholding the department's values of integrity, service, and teamwork.
  11. Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and policies, and investigate any incidents of misconduct or policy violations.
  12. Oversee the implementation of community outreach programs and initiatives to foster positive relationships with the surrounding community.
  13. Represent the JHPD and the university at meetings, conferences, and events related to law enforcement and public safety.
  14. Stay updated on developments in the law enforcement field and implement best practices and innovative strategies to improve departmental operations.
  15. Handle any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Chief of Police or university administration.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience As A Police Officer, With At Least 2 Years In A Supervisory Role.

  • Strong Leadership, Communication, And Problem-Solving Skills.

  • Knowledge Of Applicable Federal, State, And Local Laws, As Well As University Policies And Procedures.

  • Ability To Work Collaboratively With Diverse Stakeholders And Maintain A High Level Of Professionalism And Integrity.
