Senior Pharmacy Technician

We are looking for a motivated and experienced Senior Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Houston Methodist. The successful candidate will bring their expertise and enthusiasm to the role, ensuring the highest quality care for our patients.The Senior Pharmacy Technician will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy, including inventory control, medication compounding, ordering and dispensing of medication, and providing customer service. The Senior Pharmacy Technician will also work closely with the Pharmacist to ensure accuracy in the preparation and delivery of medications.The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience working as a Pharmacy Technician, a high school diploma or equivalent, and a valid Pharmacy Technician Certification. They must also possess excellent customer service and communication skills, the ability to work well under pressure, and a commitment to providing a safe and efficient pharmacy service.

Responsibilities:

1. Manage the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy, including inventory control, medication compounding, ordering and dispensing of medication, and providing customer service.
2. Work closely with the Pharmacist to ensure accuracy in the preparation and delivery of medications.
3. Maintain knowledge of current industry trends and best practices.
4. Monitor medication stocks and reorder when necessary.
5. Process customer orders and ensure accuracy.
6. Answer customer inquiries and provide advice on medication use and potential side-effects.
7. Assist customers with insurance coverage and other payment options.
8. Ensure adherence to all safety and regulatory standards.
9. Assist in training and mentoring junior pharmacy technicians.
10. Maintain accurate records of all transactions and customer information.
