Job Description

Welcome to Deaconess Health System, where our mission is to provide exceptional care to our patients and their families. We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Patient Care Technician (PCT) to join our Neuro Surgical team on the night shift. As a PCT, you will play a crucial role in supporting our patients during their stay at our facility. Your responsibilities will include assisting with daily activities, monitoring vital signs, and providing emotional support to patients and their loved ones.   1. Assist patients with daily activities, such as bathing, dressing, and eating.
  2. Monitor vital signs and report any changes or concerns to the nursing staff.
  3. Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families.
  4. Assist with patient transfers and positioning to ensure their safety and comfort.
  5. Collaborate with the nursing staff to develop and implement patient care plans.
  6. Document patient observations and assist with maintaining accurate medical records.
  7. Assist with diagnostic tests and procedures as directed by healthcare professionals.
  8. Ensure a clean and safe patient environment by following infection control protocols.
  9. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  10. Attend and participate in staff meetings and educational opportunities to stay updated on current healthcare practices.
  11. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including confidentiality and patient rights.
  12. Continuously strive to improve patient care and satisfaction.
  13. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and assist with data collection.
  14. Maintain a professional and empathetic demeanor at all times.
  15. Adhere to all safety and emergency protocols.
  16. Maintain knowledge of and follow all HIPAA regulations.
  17. Regularly report any issues or concerns to the nursing staff or supervisor.
  18. Complete assigned tasks and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner.
  19. Attend and participate in training and orientation for new team members.
  20. Other duties as assigned by the nursing staff or supervisor.

Job Qualifications
  • Prior Experience: At Least 1-2 Years Of Experience Working As A Patient Care Technician In A Neuro Surgical Unit, Preferably In A Night Shift Setting.

  • Certification: Must Be A Certified Patient Care Technician (Pct) Or Have A Valid Certified Nursing Assistant (Cna) Certification.

  • Knowledge Of Neuro Surgical Procedures: A Strong Understanding Of Neuro Surgical Procedures, Equipment, And Protocols Is Necessary For This Role.

  • Ability To Multitask: The Night Shift Pct Will Be Responsible For Providing Care To Multiple Patients Simultaneously, So The Ability To Multitask And Prioritize Is Crucial.

  • Team Player: Must Be Able To Work Well In A Team Environment And Communicate Effectively With Nurses, Doctors, And Other Healthcare Professionals To Provide The Best Patient Care.
