  1. Develop and implement strategic plans and initiatives to promote economic growth and attract businesses to the city of San Jose.
  2. Collaborate with local businesses, community organizations, and government agencies to identify and address economic development needs and opportunities.
  3. Conduct research and analysis on market trends, economic indicators, and industry sectors to inform decision making and identify potential growth areas.
  4. Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders and investors to secure funding and support for economic development projects.
  5. Manage and oversee the city's cultural affairs programs, including events, festivals, and public art projects.
  6. Work closely with cultural organizations and artists to support and promote the arts and cultural heritage of San Jose.
  7. Develop and maintain partnerships with local educational institutions to foster talent development and innovation in the city's economic sectors.
  8. Serve as a spokesperson and advocate for the city's economic development and cultural affairs initiatives, both locally and nationally.
  9. Manage a team of professionals and provide mentorship and guidance to promote professional development and achieve department goals.
  10. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of economic development and cultural affairs programs and make recommendations for improvements and adjustments as needed.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In A Relevant Field Such As Business Administration, Economics, Urban Planning, Or Public Administration.

  • Minimum Of 7-10 Years Of Experience In Economic Development, Cultural Affairs, Or Related Field, With At Least 3 Years In A Supervisory Or Managerial Role.

  • Proven Track Record Of Successful Economic Development Initiatives And Projects, Preferably At A Municipal Or Regional Level.

  • Strong Understanding Of Local And Regional Economic And Cultural Trends, As Well As Knowledge Of State And Federal Laws And Regulations Related To Economic Development And Cultural Affairs.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Build And Maintain Relationships With Diverse Stakeholders Including Business Leaders, Community Groups, And Government Officials.
