  1. Conduct regular audits of patient records to identify areas of non-compliance and opportunities for improvement.
  2. Collaborate with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement strategies for improving documentation practices.
  3. Monitor and track compliance with regulatory requirements, including but not limited to HIPAA, CMS, and Joint Commission standards.
  4. Serve as a subject matter expert on healthcare compliance and documentation standards, providing guidance and education to staff as needed.
  5. Develop and maintain policies and procedures related to compliance and documentation practices.
  6. Communicate findings and recommendations to leadership and work with them to implement changes and improvements.
  7. Stay current on updates and changes to healthcare regulations and ensure that documentation practices align with these changes.
  8. Facilitate training sessions and workshops for staff to promote understanding and adherence to compliance and documentation requirements.
  9. Maintain accurate and thorough records of compliance audits and corrective actions taken.
  10. Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and committees to provide expert input on compliance and documentation matters.
  11. Conduct investigations and root cause analyses for identified compliance issues and develop action plans for resolution.
  12. Monitor and report on progress towards compliance goals and objectives.
  13. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of the role.
  14. Act as a liaison between the organization and regulatory agencies during audits and inspections.
  15. Continuously strive to improve documentation practices and promote a culture of compliance throughout the organization.

Job Qualifications
  • Valid Rn Licensure: The Candidate Must Possess A Current And Active Registered Nurse License In The State Of North Carolina Or Be Eligible To Obtain One.

  • Strong Knowledge Of Compliance Regulations: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Healthcare Compliance Regulations, Including Hipaa, Cms, And Joint Commission Standards.

  • Experience In Documentation Improvement: Previous Experience In Improving Compliance Documentation, Preferably In A Healthcare Setting, Is Highly Desired For This Role.

  • Attention To Detail: The Compliance Documentation Improvement Specialist Must Have Excellent Attention To Detail To Ensure Accuracy And Completeness Of Documentation.

  • Excellent Communication Skills: This Position Requires Frequent Interaction With Healthcare Providers, Staff, And Other Stakeholders. Therefore, Strong Verbal And Written Communication Skills Are Essential For Success In This Role.
