- Lead a team of clinical documentation integrity specialists and ensure their performance meets established standards and goals.
- Analyze current clinical documentation practices and identify areas for improvement.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize clinical documentation and ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to educate and provide feedback on best practices for clinical documentation.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on clinical documentation requirements, coding guidelines, and reimbursement methodologies.
- Conduct regular audits to monitor compliance with documentation standards and identify opportunities for further education and improvement.
- Keep abreast of changes in regulations and guidelines related to clinical documentation and provide training and updates to team members as needed.
- Work closely with revenue cycle and coding teams to ensure proper coding and billing based on accurate clinical documentation.
- Identify and address any documentation gaps or discrepancies that may impact patient care and outcomes.
- Generate reports and provide data analysis to track and measure the effectiveness of clinical documentation improvement efforts.
- Represent the organization in external audits and provide documentation support and guidance.
- Mentor and coach team members to foster a culture of continuous learning and development.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives related to clinical documentation.
- Collaborate with IT and other departments to implement new technology and tools to enhance clinical documentation processes.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and ethical standards in all aspects of the job.
Bachelor's Degree In Nursing Or Related Healthcare Field.
Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Clinical Documentation Integrity And Coding Within A Hospital Setting.
Certified Coding Specialist (Ccs) Or Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner (Cdip) Credential.
Strong Understanding Of Coding Guidelines, Reimbursement Methodologies, And Regulatory Requirements.
Excellent Communication And Leadership Skills, With The Ability To Train And Mentor Other Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialists.
